Working with a web developer and designer, I provided SEO consulting and copywriting services to Pixelstrike Media for their business website. A professional design and development firm based in Richmond, VA, Pixelstrike Creative takes a holistic approach to marketing for their clients and I did the same for them.
Simple Copywriting That Rings True
If you read through the Pixelstrike Creative website, you’ll see something that stands out– or, perhaps a better way of putting it, you’ll notice what’s missing. The copy on their website is devoid of all of the marketing tropes and cliches. You won’t see any “We’re your partner” or “We drive leads and grow your business”– phrases that are a dime a dozen and, in the end, are ultimately meaningless. As a copywriter I prefer to use simple, natural language to concisely convey what my clients do and why they are experts in their field. Copywriting for Pixelstrike Creative focused on conveying the message that they are professionals who are both easy to work with and experts in their respective fields.
SEO and Content Strategy
Pixelstrike Creative is just getting started. They don’t have a ton of content yet and their blog is forthcoming. Still, we needed to have a plan that would account for future growth and the site needed to be as optimized as possible from Day 1. From site architecture to the implementation of Open Graph, Twitter Cards, and Schema.org microdata, I made sure that Pixelstrike Creative would be easy to find via search. I also ensured that the internal link structure would allow for the “flow” of “link juice” so that any acquired SEO value wouldn’t accumulate in just one page. Keyword research was pretty standard and offered no real surprises, but I did my due diligence and checked local rankings to see if we could identify any opportunities which we might leverage to gain better traction in search rankings. In general, I provided a checklist of SEO best practices and worked side by side with their developer and designer to help them produce a top-quality website that would be competitive from the start.
Of course, that’s just the first phase.
The second phase involves two sets of linking strategies. The first involves links from directories and relevant referral sites such as LinkedIn. The second is part of the site’s overall content strategy. We’ll be targeting low to mid tier blogs and trade websites. There’s more, of course, but these are the initial steps. I can’t go around giving away the recipe for the secret sauce, now can I?
Strategy and Process
As a member of the Pixelstrike team, I also helped create the process flow for clients when it comes to creating websites and web pages. I work closely with our developer and designer to first analyze, then address SEO, Copywriting, and Content issues. The established workflow prevents roadblocks in our work cycle and allows for all three of us to work in parallel to one another, speeding the time to delivery.
